How do you convey the correct surgical gesture?

Université Paris Cité school of medicine (Paris, France) has launched this instructive website to help surgeons create educational surgical videos. Only surgeons know which aspect of surgical strategy, which detail in the gesture or which anatomical landmark is important for teaching, so it seems crucial that surgeons have the skills to create educational surgical videos themselves.

Regulatory aspects (GDPR, image rights, ethics…) are addressed, and a standard consent form for patients is proposed. Technical considerations for reducing video size while maintaining optimal quality are discussed, as are tips for video acquisition in the operating theatre. Finally, recommendations for editing your raw video and producing compelling educational videos while preserving the patient’s identity are presented.
